Education Foundation

The Ho-Ho-Kus Education Foundation was founded in 1992 by Ho-Ho-Kus School parent volunteers and members of the school administration in an effort to collaborate and address the early signs of New Jersey state and local school budget restrictions and other financial challenges facing public education.

The Ho-Ho-Kus Education Foundation works with the school administration to focus on specific needs in our school including state-of-the-art technology and scholastic enrichment programs that, without State funding, would not be available to our children.  The Ho-Ho-Kus Education Foundation’s primary function is to raise money to help finance these various programs.  The Ho-Ho-Kus School teachers submit grant requests to the Education Foundation, and Board members meet regularly to review, evaluate and grant these requests.  Since its inception, The Ho-Ho-Kus Education Foundation has awarded over $1 million in grants that vary in size and scope.  Below are various examples of what these funds bring to our children:

  • National Geographic Giant Traveling Maps for Social Studies (grade 5)
  • Peaceful Playground for recess (all grades)
  • One intermediate French Horn (grades 5-8)
  • Photography class (grade 8)
  • Smart document cameras (kindergarten)
  • Assistive technology using Learning Ally (all grades)
  • Assistive technology using the Forte to build writing skills (grades 3-4)
  • Chromebooks (grades 5-8)
  • Desktop replacements (grades prek-8)
  • Author visit with Lynda Mullaly Hunt
  • Week-long author workshop with author Adam Gidwitz
  • Educate 2B/Zensational Kids (all grades)
  • Laptop lab and new computer lab
  • Smartboards (grades k-8)
  • TV studio
