Wiffle Ball Unit

Wiffle Ball Unit:

Positions on a baseball, softball, or Wiffle ball team:

  • Pitcher
  • First base
  • Second base
  • Short stop
  • Third base
  • Catcher
  • Outfielders


  • Batting team provides pitcher who will pitch overhead or underhand; The objective is to get your teammate to hit the ball.
  • Pitcher should not field the ball
  • There are no walks or strikeouts
  • Fielding team must provide a catcher, the catcher should stand back by the backstop. Their purpose is to make plays at the plate and throw back missed pitches.
  • Play to 3 outs or bat through the line-up, whichever comes first.
  • Bbatters need to stay behind the backstop during play
  • Batting team should establish and batting order (1-8/9) and keep this order the entire class, all players must bat and bat in order after inning changes and in new games.
  • Fiedling team should spread out in the field and cover all positions.
  • When a ball is hit past the outfielders, one of the infielders should position themselves for a cut-off play.
  • There is no stealing or sliding
  • Runners may not leave the base until the ball is pitched
  • One base on an overthrow when the ball is out of the field, may advance as many bases as you want on an overthrow that is in the field of play.
  • It is an automatic out if the batter throws the bat.
  • Batter is out if the fielding team catches a pop-fly.
  • All other baseball/softball rules apply (ie. No pegging, may tag up, may not advance on a fly ball, etc.)
